I came home to Maryland for a week for Mom and Dad's 50Th Anniversary. Parrie gave a funny speech (yes you were right, it wasn't too long), there was a lot of stories told, including mine about whether Dad had a mustache or not (he did and Mom didn't remember), and a lot of visiting with people we haven't seen in ages. For instance, John Pollock, who was the contractor who built part of the log house while we built the other part of it, Andrew Walker who was my father's instrument flight trainer, Lt. Col. Jim Commer who let us camp at his house on one of our multiple trips across country in the 70's, our neighbor's across the street, Don and Fostine Ervin who provided us with countless "oops" necessities over the years, and best of all, our long missed relatives who traveled from Tennessee and Florida to come up for the occasion. Aunt Sis and Uncle Gordon (you might remember him from our wedding), Aunt Betty-Grace, and Uncle Buddy and Aunt Barbara- it was wonderful to see them all and have a chance to visit with them over the weekend.
While I am home, I also get to visit my friends Amanda, her family, and Francine. It's great to be able to spend time with them, although it's never seems like enough. I'm looking forward to seeing Amanda and Neill in Peru when we go this August, and I'll see Francine again when we come out again for Christmas. But I will be glad to get home on Thursday to see my hubby! Unfortunately, he couldn't get away for this week since we already have his vacation time accounted for. He missed out on all the family reminiscing, which sometimes is a good thing! :-)
